By linking writing to the curriculum and a wide range of texts, children are exposed to a whole world of rich and exciting subject-specific vocabulary that they can use purposefully in their writing. Teachers use texts of similar types to model sentence structures and forms that allow children to practise and build a familiarity with the different styles of writing before embarking on their own written pieces. It is an important part of writing at Orchard, that children know that their writing has a specific purpose and audience.
