Our Orchard Curriculum

Our Curriculum Intent

'Orchard provides the Opportunity to unlock the Potential, which is the key to your future Success.'

At Orchard Primary School our curriculum is exciting, engaging and packed with enrichment activities and experiences to develop each child’s individual skills and talents and promotes a love for learning.  The ability to learn is underpinned by the teaching of basic skills, knowledge, concepts and values and builds on prior learning to ensure depth of knowledge and understanding.

It is designed around developing six key behaviours for learning: Creativity, Curiosity, Independence, Resilience, Respect and Teamwork. With these behaviours underpinning our curriculum we aim to create life-long independent learners who have strong interpersonal skills, are resilient and creative and critical thinkers.

We believe that childhood and school life should be safe, happy and a place where children can investigate, enquire, take risks and rise to challenges so that they achieve their potential, have high aspirations and a curiosity and thirst for new experiences and knowledge which they can draw upon throughout their life.

Community involvement is an essential part of our curriculum through which our pupils develop a strong sense of belonging and the skills to play an active part in the school community and beyond.

As they move on from Year 6, Orchard pupils are confident and independent with the skills to make decisions, self-evaluate, make connections and thrive in future environments whatever they may be.
