The Orchard curriculum is specifically crafted to raise children's aspirations and unlock hidden skills and talents. This purposeful approach to learning ensures that our pupils are prepared to become compassionate citizens of the world. We believe that school life should be a place where children feel safe and happy, and where they can explore, take risks, and rise to challenges. Through this environment, they develop a curiosity and thirst for new experiences and knowledge, enabling them to achieve their potential and set high aspirations for their future.

Community involvement plays a vital role in our curriculum, helping pupils build a strong sense of belonging and encouraging them to take an active part in the school community and beyond. Our curriculum is vocabulary-rich, allowing children to access high-quality texts and improve their speech, language, and communication skills. This development fosters a positive, active mindset that supports children as they move on from Year 6, confident in their ability to make decisions, self-evaluate, and thrive in future environments, wherever life may take them.

Our Orchard Curriculum

At Orchard Primary School, our curriculum is designed to be exciting, engaging, and rich in enrichment activities that promote a love for learning. It focuses on developing each child’s individual skills and talents while ensuring a strong foundation in basic skills, knowledge, concepts, and values. The curriculum builds on prior learning, encouraging depth of knowledge and understanding. Central to this approach are six key behaviours for learning: Creativity, Curiosity, Independence, Resilience, Respect, and Teamwork, which are also our core values. By embedding these behaviours into our teaching, we aim to nurture life-long independent learners who are resilient, creative, critical thinkers with strong interpersonal skills.
